tomorrow makes 17 weeks and i think the food is onion. “onions have layers” – shrek.  but i was doing some looking around on the What to Expect… site (i avoided the book cause i heard it freaked too many people out) and found this gem:

“Listen up: Tiny bones in your fetus’s ears are in place this week, making it likely that the baby can hear your voice when you’re speaking (or singing in the shower)at 16 weeks pregnant. In fact, studies have found that babies who are sung to while they’re in the womb recognize the same tune when it’s sung to them after they are born (so choose your baby Muzak with that in mind…).”

Soooo apparently the past week or so, Monkey Pie’s ears have started to work.  yay. except maybe not.  the baby’s heard me sing Snoop Dogg, curse bad drivers,  and mumble curses under my breath while people walk away.  but now i have the task of figuring what song i’m going to want to sing that the baby will remember.  i’m sure it will be something from Spoon.

and now i have to get baby books and start reading them aloud. brownlee swears that if i had $5 left i’d spend it on books.  sure enough there’s a Lincoln in my purse right now and a Half Price Books on Westheimer…

my evil plan is to start a nightly routine.  shower, relax, and read and then go to bed. precondition that kid that once a shower hit it’s time to shush up and go to sleep. here’s to hopin’.

sidenote: there’s new buttons down at the bottom to like/share the blog on facebook and email and twitter. wordpress just added the option not too long ago.  there’s not so much a facebook ban on baby stuff for me, just you won’t see my status saying anything about being pregnant.
